Classic Ranch Wedding at Diamond B Weddings, Kalispell MT

Tailored, timeless, and full of heartfelt family moments

a truly western Ranch Wedding

As a wedding officiant rooted in Montana, I create heartfelt, customized ceremonies that honor each couple’s story, values, and the vision they hold for their wedding day. When Sarah and Greg began planning their September wedding in Northwest Montana, they knew they wanted something that honored their families while feeling classic and personal. The venue they chose—Diamond B Weddings in Kalispell—offered the perfect balance between rustic charm and contemporary elegance, with two beautifully distinct barns and a stunning riverside setting.

In preparing their thoughts for the occasion, they realized that exchanging private vows before the more public ceremony felt most comfortable and Diamond B provided a stunning setting for that intimate moment and retreat.

Sharing emotional moments in the garden

The day itself delivered all the emotional weight and romance they’d envisioned. As their officiant, I had the joy of guiding their ceremony—my first fully indoor Montana wedding!—set against the glowing ambiance of Diamond B’s rustic barn. Just before the ceremony, the skies cleared long enough for family photos on the patio, and then, as if perfectly timed, a gentle rain began tapping on the tin roof just as we began. The sound of the rain added the perfect romantic punctuation to the ceremony, making the moment feel even more intimate and cozy.

Honoring Loved Ones, Near and Far

This ceremony carried deep emotional significance. Greg's father had passed away, and during the memorial portion of the ceremony, we paused to honor his name. While many weddings include such remembrances, this one felt especially weighted.

Later in the ceremony, the couple opted for a special flower ritual—an alternative to the typical unity candle (since open flames aren't allowed at Diamond B). With each bloom offered, we honored the parents who raised Sarah and Greg into the people they had become.

Their flower ritual struck a powerful chord—not just with the couple, but with their guests. Afterward, Greg’s sister sought me out to share her heartfelt thanks for the way we had honored their father and incorporated meaningful, personal touches into the day.

A Venue That Does It All

Diamond B Weddings is truly a gem for Montana couples looking for an all-in-one venue. The rustic barn, used for the ceremony, glows with string lights and features a showstopping inverted mason jar chandelier—an eye-catching blend of nostalgia and elegance. The reception moved into the sleek, contemporary barn, offering a different ambiance while still maintaining cohesion with the day’s classic aesthetic.

The wedding party’s style followed suit—bronze-toned dresses and bolo ties brought a casual sophistication, echoing the venue’s polished yet down-to-earth vibe.

Photographer Jennifer Vernarsky met the challenge of capturing ceremony photos indoors with finesse and artistry. It was fun to help her quickly test lighting conditions and angles, ensuring she could capture the soft glow of the barn’s lights and the emotional clarity of the ceremony. The results? Absolutely stunning, romantic imagery that perfectly mirrors the tone of the day. The weather was shifting quickly, but the mood stayed bright and upbeat.

Short, Sweet,

and Uniquely Them

From the start, Sarah and Greg were looking for a ceremony that reflected them: non-religious, personal, and brief—but not shallow. Because they chose to skip a ring exchange and marriage license signing during the ceremony, I suggested anchoring the moment with a ritual that would still feel meaningful. The flower ceremony offered that grounding presence while elevating the experience for everyone there.

We kept things streamlined, but still full of heart—just like the couple themselves.
